Czech Mint medals

Czech Mint annually produces commemorative medals according to its own Issue Plan. The Czech Mint’s medals have been sought by collectors for their brilliant artistic value and outstanding quality.

Leading Czech artists have created artistic and graphic designs, among them painters and sculptors Oldřich Kulhánek, Vladimír Oppl, Jiří Dostál, Jiří Harcuba, Majka Wichnerová, Jaroslav Bejvl, Karel Zeman and others. In addition, some designs have been created by young, talented artists - winners of art competitions.

Engravers in the Czech Mint pay meticulous attention to manufacture of each medal and they fine-tune every detail of the model by hand under the microscope.

The Czech Mint’s medals are struck in both precious and base metals. Precious hallmarked metals mostly include pure gold (Au 999.9), ducat gold (Au 986) and silver (Ag 999 and Ag 900). Exceptionally, some medals are struck in platinum (Pt 999.9).

Themedals are issued in accordance with Czech Mint Issue plan, which is announce on a yearly basis.
