The Royal Mint's silver coin collector's series is dedicated to the greatest figures of British pop music. David Bowie is the third musical legend.

David Bowie is often regarded as the most influential figure in modern music. He has impressed critics and fans alike in a thousand different ways - folk-acoustic, rhythm'n'blues, rock'n'roll, hard rock, glam rock, gothic, new wave, disco, electronic and drum'n'bass. He amazed not only with original rhythms, melodies and musical styles, but also with extravagant costumes. However, he was able to manage his experiments admirably. No one else could have created a cocktail mixed from hallucinogens, science fiction, Japanese theatre, Nietzsche´s philosophy and funk rock in a way that was still relevant decades later.

The reverse side of the coin, processed by artist Jody Clark, is dominated by a charismatic portrait of David Bowie from the time spent in West Berlin. Additional motifs - a lightning bolt inspired by the Aladdin Sane album, glittering stars and a dynamic inscription - symbolise Bowie's dazzling career. The obverse side of the coin bears the attributes of the issuer - i.e. the nominal value of 1 POUND (GBP), the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the text "ELIZABETH II D G REG F D" (Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith) and the year of issue 2020.

The coin is set in a special frame that protects it and allows it to be elegantly displayed.
