Seven wonders of the ancient world

The fourth issue of the Czech Mint's cycle dedicated to the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, commemorates The Statue of Zeus at Olympia. This special product will be especially appreciated by investors. The whole package contains one troy ounce of gold, but divided into ten identical coins. If you want to monetize only a part of your investment, you can divide the package and sell it in pieces…

The gods of the ancient Greeks
inhabited the unreachable peak of Mount Olympus, and when a mortal wanted to ask them for help or advice, they visited the temples that used to be their homes on Earth. Each such sanctuary was dominated by a cult statue of that deity - Artemis, Athena, Ares, ... and of course the supreme of the gods, the thunderous Zeus. The ancient centre of the cult of Zeus was Olympia in the Peloponnese, famous for the Olympic Games and that is one of the most sacred places in all of Greece. Worshippers of Zeus and visitors from all over the ancient world were drawn here by the temple with its breathtaking statue, which became one of the Seven Wonders of Antiquity. The 12-metre-high likeness of Zeus sitting on his throne was the only one of the wonders of the world created by one man - a sculptor named Pheidias. He used the most precious materials - cedar, ebony, ivory, gold and precious stones. The preciousness of the statue went hand in hand with the artistry. People had worshipped the majestic Zeus for eight centuries. The statue survived the ravages of the Romans, the move to Constantinople, earthquakes and tsunamis. It was only doomed by a fanatical Christian faith that would not tolerate pagan idols…

The reverse side of the coin, which is the work of the medal maker
Petra Brodská, DiS., presents the Statue of Zeus, which is separated from the English inscription of THE STATUE OF ZEUS AT OLYMPIA by a hinge. The obverse side, which is common to the entire cycle, then presents all Seven Wonders of the World - the Egyptian pyramids, the Hanging Gardens of Semiramis, the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the Colossus of Rhodes and the Lighthouse on the island of Faro. As the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the foreign licence of the island of Niue, their obverse side also bears the portrait and name of Queen Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2022.

Ten identical coins are
sealed in a special packaging. This is perforated so that it can be divided into ten parts if necessary if needed.

Note: The packaging is covered with foil to prevent damage in transit.
