Czech Lion 2020

Important world banks and mints boast their own investment coins. As their name suggests, they attract mainly investors who know that an elaborated portfolio can not miss gold and other precious metals. The Czech Republic does not have its purely investment coins yet, so the Czech Mint issued the “Czech Lion” based on a foreign license.

World issuers choose
easily recognizable national motives for their investment coins. The theme of the Austrian coin “Wiener Philharmoniker” is one of the most respected symphony orchestras of classical music in the world. The Canadian “Maple Leaf” bears the official national emblem in the form of a maple leaf. South Africa's "Krugerrand" is dedicated not only to historic President Paul Kruger, but also to the state symbol in the form of springbok. Many other countries also depict national animals on their bullion coins. The American "Eagle" belongs to the majestic Bald Eagle, the Chinese "Panda" to black-and-white panda and the Australian "Kangaroo" represents the antipodes of the characteristic kangaroos. The investment coin of the Czech Mint is no exception.

All variants of the Czech Mint's investment coins were
reworked in 2020, but the main idea remained. Besides the Czech Lion in an untraditionally realistic presentation, the reverse side of the gold coin presents two more symbols of Czech statehood - the St Wenceslas crown, which rests on the head of a two-tailed beast, together with an eagle on a shield that is a synthesis of St Wenceslas, Moravian and Silesian birds of prey. The relief was processed by the medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS. The obverse side bears the attributes of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to mint its own coins. The attributes are the portrait and the name of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2020 and the nominal value of 250 DOLLARS (NZD). All this is supplemented with linden branches.

The coin is made of
pure gold weighing five times the troy ounce - a globally recognized unit of measure that is exempt from VAT. The total schedule of issuance counts 200 pieces, 175 of which are available separately (another 25 pieces are part of the comprehensive sets of gold investment coins). The Czech Mint also offers a luxurious wooden box where you can store this coin.
