Product description

Since the beginning of 1945 a nationwide uprising was being prepared in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, in order to liberate the nation, once and for all, from German domination. Due to other European events, which indicated the approaching end of the Second World War, this rebellion should heve helped to prevent the Germans from looting or destroying our industrial potential. The Prague uprising burst out 5th May, 1945.  Nearly three thousand victims form part of the list of the fallen, which was completed this year by the Military Historical Institute, after 70 years. Also a unique gold coin 5 NZD Prague uprising in extraordinary proof quality by The Czech Mint reminds us of those days.

Our nation fought against the oppression of his homeland for four days and brought the liberation of many victims to the altar. The Czech Mint thanks to all the courageous, who fought against a powerful enemy for four bloody days in May, for their bravery with new coins made of pure gold. It is the last, fourth issue of the extremely attractive series End of the Second World War, which this year presents three themes to numismatists and history lovers: The Liberation of Auschwitz, The Battle of Iwo Jima and The Capture of Berlin by the Red Army. Gold coin 5 NZD Prague uprising proof closes then this outstanding series. It is delivered in golden paper etui together with the certificate.

All four topics of the mintage were prepared by Czech medal master Jakub Orava. The reverse side of the medal includes issuer`s attributes - the portrait of the Queen Elizabeth II in the inner circle of the coin and the inscription ELIZABETH II., NIUE ISLAND, FIVE DOLLARS and 2015 along its perimeter.
