Product description

On May 2nd, 2016 will celebrate the ageless eared boy in a wooden shoes called Hurvínek his 90th birthday! On this occasion, the popular character of a several generations of viewers, receives his own gold Smart coin 5 NZD, in a high-quality proof from the Czech Mint. This is the first of three issues of a series called Spejbl and Hurvínek, which will gradually introduce all the members of the popular puppet's  family - Mr. Spejbl and Mrs. Kateřina with Mánička.

The woodcarver Gustav Nosek created Hurvínek's puppet in 1926, as a sprightly young son of an already existing character Josef Spejbl. Unlike his "daddy" Hurvínek had a distinctive clump of hair on his head and a movable eyes, which gave him an unmistakable facial expressions. Firstly he was dressed in a nightgown and later in a white blouse and shorts with a braces. His mischievous character was the opposite of a serious and a little confused Spejbl. A funny situations full of a conversational humor were created, interlaced with an energetic barking of the dog Žeryk, whose puppet also created Gustav Nosek. The four-legged friend first appeared alongside Hurvínek on April 19, 1930.

The two inseparable friends adorns the reverse of the Smart coin of pure gold. Their effigy has brilliantly captured the medaillist Irena Hradecká, DiS., and supplemented it with an inscription  HURVÍNEK and ŽERYK. The obverse includes the necessary attributes of the issuer, the year of the issue 2016 and the nominal 5 DOLLARS. The coin is an official mintage, which comes with the blessing of the director of the Theatre of Spejbl and Hurvínek, Helena Štáchová.
