Product description

Our ancestors used to give the gold penny to the new-born children in the cradle for happiness. It was not just a penny, but a famous ducat. This beautiful habit is followed by the Czech Mint by coining the ducat for the birth of a child.

Ducat mintages has a long tradition in Bohemia. The first czech gold coins (then called the florins) were used to be coined by John the Blind, followed by Charles IV. His czech ducats have been in circulation for centuries. Czechoslovak and St. Wenceslas ducats followed in modern times. For their beauty and above all value they have become a proven gift that the baby has received so that he or she does not suffer in life. These ducats were almost forgotten after the Second World War, however, the Czech Mint decided to revive this tradition by painting their own gold ducats intended for the occasion of the child birth. The beauty and value of gold remained, while an uncharacteristic personal value in the form of an engraved dedication is additional.

The artistic processing of the obverse side for 2018 was made by talented female medal maker Lenka Nebeská, DiS. She chose the theme of the sleeping baby held by his parents, and supplemented it with the inscription DUCAT FOR THE BIRTH OF CHILD 2018. The reverse side is wrapped in a heart-shaped ribbon that defines the space for text engraving. This may take the form of a personal message, names, birth dates, ... - imagination does not apply. The only limit is the text range: 3 lines of 10 characters including spaces.

The issue is stored in a stylish gift box, which can be customized like the ducat. It includes space for inscribing baby information and dedication, as well as inserting a photo.
