Product description

2016 will mark a remarkable anniversary – our nation and Europe as a whole will commemorate the 700th anniversary of birth of Charles IV, the King of Bohemia and Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. During his lifetime, the best-known member of the House of Luxembourg gained many more titles – he was a King of Germany, Lombardy and Burgundy, a Margrave of Moravia and a Margrave of Luxembourg. The son of John of Luxembourg and Elizabeth of Bohemia was born on 14 May 1316 in Prague, where he also died on 29 November 1378.

Czech Mint now pays another tribute to the exemplary governor – a gold half-ounce (Troy) 25 NZD high-proof quality coin. The new numismatic gem completes the Three Emperors Coins series, which is dedicated to premier personalities from thousands of years within Europe’s history– Charlemagne (issued in 2014), the first medieval emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, his successors Charles IV. of Luxembourg (issued in 2015) and Charles I. of Austria (to be issued in 2016). Your refined collections definitely should not omit the gorgeous themed set with an undisputed investment potential!

The magnificent cultural heritage of the Father of the Country, as he is referred to, and his political prowess with which he influenced European history, never stops inspiring artists to new tributes. The latest of them is the 25 NZD gold coin designed by sculptor Vladimír Oppl. The reverse side bears a magnificent portrait of Charles IV. with precisely rendered details of coronation jewels, the Eagle of Saint Wenceslas and the Bohemian Lion. Along the perimeter the coin reads “● MCCCL ● MMXV ● FUNDATOR ● CAROLVS IV ● IMPERATOR ● REX ●”. The obverse side contains a balanced composition of the attributes of the issuer, Niue Island. This valuable work of art by Czech Mint will safely guard your finance and become the pride and joy of your numismatic collection. Do not hesitate with the purchase – the issue is limited to just 500 units!
