During his half-a-century long career Karel Gott became a real phenomenon. His popularity in the Czech Republic is demonstrated by results of the Czech Nightingale (follower of the Golden Nightingale) opinion poll, which he has dominated since 1964. His permanent and long-term popularity and success are indeed exceptional in the world of popular music. In addition to this, full concert halls worldwide prove that his popularity is not limited by frontiers. People go to his concerts in New York, Berlin, Moscow and Beijing alike.
The medals were designed by outstanding creative artists Jaroslav Bejvl and Petr Horák who impersonate the best of Czech medallist school. Thanks to them you can admire the Master’s portrait in the tiniest detail. The obverse side features Karel Gott’s portrait designed by medallist Jaroslav Bejvl with Gott’s signature and date of birth 14 July. On the reverse, medallist Petr Horák placed symbol of a nightingale with a harp. This motif was inspired by a real sculpture owned by the singer.
