Czech Lion 2019

Significant world banks and mints are proud of their own investment coins. Besides collectors and numismatics they mainly attract investors who know that a sophisticated portfolio can not miss gold and other precious metals. The Czech Republic does not have its pure investment coins, therefore, the Czech Mint issued the "Czech Lion" - own investment coins issued with a foreign license.

World issuers choose easily recognizable national motives for their investment coins. The theme of the austrian coin "Wiener Philharmoniker" is based on one of the most respected classical symphony orchestras in the world. Canadian "Maple Leaf" bears an official national symbol which is a maple leaf. South Africa's "Krugerrand" is dedicated not only to the historic president Paul Kruger, but also to the state symbol in the form of an antelope jumping. A number of other countries also depict national animals on their coins. American "Eagle" belongs to the majestic balloon eagle, the Chinese "Panda" belongs to black-and-white panda and the Australian "Kangaroo" belongs to the antipodeans of the characteristic kangaroos. Even the coins of the Czech Mint are not an exception. They belong to the Czech lion and the St. Wenceslas Eagle.

The relief of a five-coin was modified in 2019, but the main idea of the mintage remained. The reverse side of the investment coin is dominated by an untraditionally realistic two-tailed lion that guards the St. Wenceslas crown along with the flaming eagle on the shield. The author of the original composition was the medal maker Jaroslav Bejvl, who left us forever at the age of 75, so he did not manage to finish his masterpiece. Therefore, Asamat Baltaev, DiS, continues this masterpiece. The obverse side belongs to the attributes of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to coin the investment coins. The attributes are the name and the profile of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2019 and the nominal value of 250 DOLLARS (NZD). All of this is supplemented by linden branches.

The coin is exempt from VAT and made of pure gold weighing five times more than the troy ounce that is globally recognized unit of measurement. The total schedule of issuance counts 200 pieces - 185 pieces are available separately and another 15 are part of a set of high-weight coins.
