Product description

A series of the gold medals from the Czech Mint, weighing one troy ounce, which is devoted to the most beautiful look-out towers of the Czech Republic, welcomes its eighth increment - the oldest look-out tower in Jeseniky Mountains and our oldest mountain Post House named the Biskupská kupa.

In a wooden look-out tower, built in 1890, was established the first Post House in Moravia. In the spring of 1896, was to Rudolf Franz, who was the owner of the tourist chalet "Rudolfsheim" standing on the hill Biskupská kupa, granted a permission to use the postal stamp by the postal and telegraph headquarters. It is interesting, that his imprint was not allowed to overlap a postage stamp, whose designation was then reserved to the post office.

The Post House survived the destruction of the wooden tower, which was in 1898 replaced by a stone construction, but after World War II perished. In 2006, 110 years after its foundation, was the purpose of the mountain post office restored.

Precisely because of its postal history, has the medalist Luboš Charvát from Jablonec complemented the view of the construction with the two postal horns - one historical and one modern, stylized. The composition also includes the name of the look-out tower and the date of construction of its present form. The reverse side of the medal bears a list of the technical specifications of the tower which is 19.3 meters high and is located atop a hill with an altitude of 890 m n. M. To enjoy the view, you must climb the 95-step spiral staircase, which leads over to the entrance of the look-out tower featured on the reverse of the medal. It bears the inscription "Kaiser Franz Josef Warte" because the look-out tower in its stone version was built in a honor of the past 50 years of the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I.

In the menu of the Czech Mint you will also find a luxurious wooden etui, decorated with a thematic engraving, in which you can save the gold treasure in the form of all 12 ounce medals in the series.
