Product description

The memorial mintages dedicated to our golden Olympians belong to the traditional issues of the Czech Mint. The year 2016, however, differs from previous years. Just one Czech athlete brought back the most valuable trophy from Rio de Janeiro and to thus we issue this stunning gold Smart coin. It belongs to the phenomenal Judoka Lukáš Krpálek.

Lukáš Krpálek was born in 1990. He began to flirt with judo at the age of six and in 2006 won his first medal - a silver at the European Championships of cadets. When two years later he won the junior european and world championships, he proved, that he belongs among the elite. More gold, silver and bronze championship success soon followed. Although he did not reach to the Olympic metal at the summer games in London in 2012, four years later in Rio de Janeiro he showed to the world how it's done the Czech way. Thanks to a series of victories in a nerve-wracking fights, he added another gold medal to his collection and became a second Czech judoka in history to reach the Olympic podium finish.

The author of the gold commemorative coin celebrating this success is an academic sculptor Jiří Dostál, who has a portfolio of a large amount of mintages of our top athletes - for example, the hockey goalie Dominik Hašek or the speedskater Martina Sáblíková. "Lukáš has a very pretty head", says an experienced medalist, who met the wrestler personally to be able to handle his distinctive features as closely as possible. The reverse side of the coin is dominated by a depictions of the Olympian with an upraised fists in a triumphant gesture, which is complemented by the Czech flag and a collage of inscriptions  LUKÁŠ KRPÁLEK – RIO DE JANEIRO – 2016 – JUDO – ZLATÁ MEDAILE. /GOLD MEDAL/

The obverse side of the mintage belongs to the issuer, which provides a license for issuing coins with a living celebrities for the Czech Mint. The emblem of the Pacific archipelago FIJI is completed with the year of issue 2016 and the nominal value of FIVE DOLLARS (FJD).

Do not miss the golden memory of a unique golden triumph of Czech sport!
