Product description

Year 1976 brought a lot of interesting things - the opening of the National Gallery or the start of serial production of Skoda 105 and 120. For sports fans, this year marked a dream which several times became reality - Czechoslovak hockey team won first gold during the Ice Hockey World Championship and 20th June, our footballers for the first and so far last time in history won the European Champion title in Belgrade! The goal was kept by thirty-four years old Ivo Viktor.

He was elected the best goalkeeper of the tournament and also the third best European Footballer of the Year in a survey Golden Ball. His unprecedented talent is still not forgotten and the Czech Mint dedicated to him new issue of gold quarter-ounce Smart coins 10 NZD.

Fifth part of major European Championship held in the former Yugoslav capital was amazing for everybody. The Soviet Union was eliminated in the quarterfinals for the first time in history.  Another pleasant surprise was the semi-final defeat of Dutch stars and absolute shock was then in the very final victory over reigning world and European champions - Germany. It was Ivo Viktor, a native of Křelov who managed to resist the pressure of rivals and defend the Czech goal against many interventions. From 1963 until the end of his career he wore shirt of Dukla Praha. Twice he won the league title playing a total of 316 premier league matches. Ivo Viktor scored five times in the survey Czechoslovak Footballer of the Year, his health problems, however, forced him to stop active career in 1977. Although he had to leave the active career in 1977, however, he is still devoted to his love, football, as a coach

Smart coin 10 NZD Ivo Viktor celebrates great personality with gold quarter-ounce  coin, which presents a faithful portrait of the goalkeeper completed with his name, signature and text Champions of Europe 1976 BELGRADE.
