Product description

In 2017 we celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of Maria Theresa, whose wise decisions affect our lives even today. One of them was the reform, that even after centuries remains the most important in the history of Czech education. This is recalled with a first gold coin from the Czech Mint forming a four-part miniseries called Reforms of Maria Theresa. The educational reform of Maria Theresa was formulated with the General school's rules dated 6.12.1774. It held an unprecedented state interest in education, with the entire population standing behind it. It was not just a consequence of the emerging enlightenment and philanthropy, the grounds were also quite practical. The company began to diverge from feudal organisation and manufactories in onset and machine production, which required workers with at least a basic education. The economic interest of the state also went hand in hand with the political - because the education provided the state with the opportunity to influence thinking and way of life of all the peasants. The basis of the Theresian reform were to build a public school system in all parish communities and also so-called praeparands, ensuring the professionalization of teachers. We were introduced to a collective lessons of a trivial subjects and among other innovations, that we take for granted today, were progression from easier to more difficult curriculum, common reading from a textbook and a lecture followed by a conversation about the subject matter delivered. The events of 1774 have also become the basis for the provision of compulsory schooling.

The reverse side of the coin from the workshop of a gifted medal maker Roman Shamilyan, DiS., depicts a pupil with a period hairstyle and clothing, who is mannerly sitting at a desk with an inkwell. Counting on one hand, with the other hand holding a quill pen writing the results. The scene is completed with the seal of Empress Maria Theresa and an inscription REFORMY MARIE TEREZIE - ŠKOLSKÁ. /REFORMS OF MARIA THERESA - EDUCATIONAL/
