Mickey Mouse Christmas Carol 1oz Silver Coin
Another silver coin of the series inspired by the most famous film roles of Mickey Mouse was dedicated to Mickey Christmas Carol. This is an adaptation of the classic story written by Charles Dickens, in which the tasks of the Victorian characters have been taken by Disney's animated heroes.
The film tells the story of the loan shark Ebenezer Scrooge (Uncle Scrooge), who does not like Christmas. He is bitter and sponges on his poor scribe Bob Cratchit (Mickey Mouse), who wishes to spend holidays with his family. The spirit of his old companion comes to Scrooge at night and warns him of the torture that awaits after the death. Scrooge is then visited byt three Christmas ghosts. The spirit of past Christmas returns Scrooge to his youth when he was happy, but he let his greed to make him lose his love. The ghost of the current Christmas takes Scrooge to Cratchit's household, where he sees his scribe happy even though he has only a modest Christmas. At the same time, however, he learns that Cratchit's son Tim is seriously ill. The future Christmas ghost brings Scrooge to a cemetery, where Cratchit mourns at his son´s tombstone. Scrooge then encounters the gravediggers who, with a mockery, grabbed a tomb for a dead old man who no one liked and who is no one else but Scrooge, who swears to the ghost that he gets better and sets all the wrong things right. In the morning he goes to the streets of London, spreading the Christmas mood, and eventually goes to Cratchit's house. He makes the family a royal celebration and appoints the scribe his companion.
The reverse side of the coin bears a smiling portrait of Mickey Mouse as Bob Cratchit, which is rendered in vivid colors thanks to the coloring technology. The obverse side then contains the necessary details of the coin issuer, which is Niue Island. The details are the profile and name of the Emperor Elizabeth II., the nominal value of TWO DOLLARS (NZD) together with the year of the issue 2017. The coins have been coined by the New Zealand Mint in the official Disney license.
Part of the issue is a luxurious wooden box that protects and exposes the coin, together with an illustrated front cover and a certificate of authenticity.
