Product description

The black and white slapstick comedy Plane Crazy from 1928 boasts an extraordinary primacy - the first time appearance of the animated mouse named Mickey, who was loved by generations of both children and adults alike. To him rightly belongs a gold coin of the Disney collectibles series.

Mickey Mouse, who is charmed by the phenomenal success of Charles Lindbergh, also wants to become a famous pilot. The plane prototype, which Mickey constructed with his friends, fails but the savvy mouse is not discouraged. His next aeronautical creation goes crazy and kidnaps his girlfriend Minnie. Mickey finally gains control of the plane, hoping that his piloting skills will help him to win Minnie’s heart, but it turns out, that even pilots are not guaranteed success with women.

The reverse side of the coin belongs to Mickey Mouse in the cockpit of his homemade aircraft - holding a horseshoe for good luck, from his friend Minnie.

The obverse side contains the profile and name of Elizabeth II., the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS 50 CENTS (NZD) and the year of issue 2016, thus the attributes of the coin issuer, the Pacific island of Niue. The New Zealand Mint design team authored the visual image of the officially licensed coin.

Additional to the coin weighing one-half gram is a gift in the form of a trading card with an illustration depicting the moment, when Mickey is about to take off into the sky.
