Quality of tools and technology
Obverse and reverse dies are made of (pressed into) annealed tool steel. Afterwards they are centered, heat-treated by tempering, polished, sand-blasted, or plated with a layer of hard chromium, titanium nitride or other type of plating.
The dies are fastened to coining presses with a clamping unit. Czech Mint uses Gräbener-made coinage and medal presses. For minting medals measuring over 50 mm in diameter, a high pressure hydraulic press Sack-Kiesselbach is used.
