Replica of 1852 conventional circulation thaler standard

On 21 September 1753, a mintage agreement (convention) was negotiated by Austria and Bavaria; it was in effect until 27 April 1858. Based on this convention, so-called conventional currency was introduced on the Czech territory. The convention stipulated that 20 conventional gold coins or 10 conventional thalers will be struck from one Cologne “grzywna“ (=233.855 g of gold). The coins were designated by abbreviation C.M. and, in order to distinguish them from any other and previous coinage a cross was struck behind the year of mintage.
