Product description
Each year, one of the regions of the Czech Republic is represented by a collector´s sets of circulation coins. In 2017, the Czech Mint, in cooperation with the Czech National Bank, commemorates an area whose charm attracted Beethoven, Goethe, Casanova, Peter the Great, and Franz Joseph I. - Karlovy Vary Region.
The Karlovy Vary region boasts a tradition of glass and ceramic production and a prestigious international film festival. However, it is famous for its spa, which uses a number of healing springs and natural mineral waters. Thanks to this, the spa centers of Karlovy Vary, Mariánské Spa, Františkovy Spa, Jáchymov or Spa Kynžvart have enjoyed world renowned status for centuries. Not only a wide range of beneficial procedures contribute to the physical and mental well-being of the spa guests, but also a bitter herbal liqueur with a mysterious recipe, colonial architecture and atmosphere as well as its traditional spa wafers.
The Karlovy Vary set of circulating coins combines all these features. In the thematic packaging (Czech-English booklet, which details places of interest, personalities and crafts of the region), six metal coins are presented - 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 CZK - which were minted in 2017 and are not in circulation. The coins are supplemented by a commemorative token made by David Kružliak. "The pseudo-renaissance Mill Colonnade dominates the obverse side of the token. The reverse side bears the fountain of the Kynžvart Spa. This is complemented by a series of ancient columns in the background - an element of classicism that is typical for every colonnade or spa. Three circles that are inspired by the region's typical spa wafers build a common feature of both sides of the coin, " says the young medal maker. The obverse side which belongs to a regional city carries the city emblem and its geographical coordinates.
You can store your collection of regional circulation coins in a collector's box, which can be found on offer at the Czech Mint.
