Product description

We celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Czechoslovak Republic in 2018 and we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Czechoslovak currency in 2019. The Czech National Bank released six special circulation twenty crowns of prominent Czechoslovak personalities on the occasion of these great anniversaries. This luxurious set of the Czech Mint also includes a silver commemorative medal - all in a top quality proof.

Every sovereign state has the right to create a monetary system and to choose its own currency. It becomes a means of exchange, a co-operative and a value-conservator, but also an expression of economic sovereignty respected at home and foreign financial markets. However, the currency is not just a legal tender. It is also an expression of national identity. It reflects the political and economic situation of the state, its history and presents the most important historical and cultural values of the society. The twenty-crown coins proposals of 2018 and 2019 are clear evidence ...

The three coins that were embossed in 2018 bear the portraits of the founders of the Republic - Thomas Garrigue Masaryk, Milan Rastislav Štefánik and Edvard Beneš. The coins with the year 2019 are then decorated with portraits of the most important inter-war financiers Alois Rašín, Vilém Pospíšil and Karel Englis. All six coins were made by the academic sculptor Vladimir Oppl, who created the classic twenty-crown of 1993 with St. Wenceslas. The silver medal was made by the medal maker Jiří Hanuš, DiS, who combinated two winning designs submitted for art competitions of the Czech National Bank. The obverse side of the medal commemorates the Foundation of Czechoslovakia after the breakup of Austria-Hungary. The reverse side of the medal presents the stamped Austro-Hungarian banknote, thus recalling the introduction of the Czechoslovak currency.

In a luxurious wooden etui you will find a numbered certificate of authenticity printed by the State printing works of securities.
