The Czech animator, screenwriter and artist Zdeněk Smetana was born in Prague incredible 90 years ago on 26 th July 1925. He studied Fine Arts during the German occupation with private educators and after the war began to collaborate with the Bratři v triku Studio, directed by Jiří Trnka. There Zdeněk Smetana worked as an animator for over 50 years. During that time he has created more than four hundred animated films, four of which were full-lenght films. At the end of the sixties he permanently started to work for children. He also dedicated to the illustrations - his pictures adorn around 50 books. Smetana`s work laced with unmistakable style and humor have not conquered only heart of the Czech audiences, as evidenced by the amount of foreign awards - for example, St. Mark`s Leo Mark Golden Bear Price or the London Academy Award for the best film of the year. Deserved Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Zdeněk Smetana in Třeboň in 2014 at the opening of the festival Anifilm.
