Product description

The set of four commemorative coins of the Czech Mint entitled The Year 1920 commemorates the 100th anniversary of the key moments during establishment of Czechoslovak statehood. Each coin is minted from two troy ounces of pure silver in the piedfort design, which means that the coins are twice as thick as traditional mintages.

Czechoslovakia
supposed to celebrate its second birthday in 1920. It had undergone monetary reform and its advanced economy was gaining momentum, but since the establishment of the republic was rapid in 1918, a number of state-building solutions were still only temporary. "Rome was not built in a day" and four coins prove that the establishment of an independent state of Czechs and Slovaks was a long and demanding process. The first coin is dedicated to the first Czechoslovak constitution - the most important law of the country, from which our legislators draw inspiration to this day. The second coin recalls the struggle for the borders of the republic, which the neighboring states did not want to accept even two years after the war. The third coin is dedicated to T. G. Masaryk, who became president for the second time - this time on the basis of a real full-fledged election. The fourth coin pays tribute to our legionaries, who fought for the independence of Czechoslovakia around the world and who returned finally with a fanfare home.

The academic sculptor Zbyněk Fojtů
became the author of all four coins. The individual reverse sides present the plates of the ceremonial execution of the Czechoslovak constitution and the column of the building of the Constitutional Court; a map of the republic together with a depiction of the Elizabethan Bridge, which witnessed the Czechoslovak-Hungarian fighting; portrait of T. G. Masaryk; a legionary armored train and a ship carrying our people across the ocean. The common element of all coins is the tricolor supplemented with linden branches that also appears on the obverse side. Since the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the license of a foreign issuer, the island of Niue, their obverse side still bears its necessary elements - the portrait and name of Queen Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2020.

The four-part set of coins is stored in a luxurious
wooden box.
