Maria Theresa was the only female Habsburg monarch, who ruled the Bohemian countries. In 2017, 300 years have passed since her birth and this spectacular anniversary is mirrored in a silver 200 CZK coin in extraordinary quality proof.

A woman on the throne? Nonsense! At least, some European powers with which Maria Theresa had to fight for her hereditary rights and the integrity and security of her empire thought so. She was not only a powerful ruler but also a strong mother. She gave birth to sixteen descendants including two future emperors, and thanks to the complicated marriage policy she became “European mother-in-law“. However, Maria Theresa was also considered to be the mother of all her subjects. She improved their situation - sometimes bleak – by a number of Theresian reforms, whose aim was to make the state stronger. The robot patent relieved the subject duty, while thanks to the reform of education the masses gained access to the education.

The art competition of the Czech National Bank has won a skilled artist Vojtěch Dostál, DiS. The reverse side of his coin, minted by the Czech Mint, bears a detailed portrait of Maria Theresa in a sophisticated dress supplemented by her name and an annual dates 1717-2017. The obverse side of the coin belongs to the heraldic symbols - the two-headed eagle and the two-tailed lion together with a list of selected reforms: EDUCATION, TAXES, CURRENCY, ROBOT PATENT, STATE ADMINISTRATION, MEASURES AND WEIGHTS.
