Product description

"The Association of Czech Artists of Graphic Artists Hollar" is one of our most important artistic associations. The proof of this is a silver 200 CZK coin in a quality proof, issued by the Czech National Bank on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its foundation.

The free association of graphic artists, printers and theoreticians was named after the world-famous Czech Baroque engraver and cartoonist Václav Hollar, who left behind hundreds of graphic artists and thousands of etchings. They perfectly captured mankind and the world in which he lived in the 17th century, and the same perfection in the control of graphic techniques still finds members of the association. They act to the general public, open up a support of free graphic art in our country, and their varied program combines respect for old traditions and a sense of new and modern ideas.

The first prize in the CNB's art competition won the design of the medalist MgA. Martin Dašek - the expert committee was charmed by a "creative introduction of the prescribed text (ASSOCIATION OF CZECH GRAPHIC ARTS - 1917 - 2017 / CZECH REPUBLIC - 200 CZK) in a form written on a sheet of paper in a printing press". The composition of both sides is dominated by the HOLLAR logo and the two-tailed Czech lion.

Exclusive supplier of all coins issued by the Czech National Bank is the Czech Mint from Jablonec nad Nisou.
