Product description

Hollar - a prestigious association of Czech graphic artists bearing the name of one of the greatest engravers and cartoon artists of all time - became a silver coin of the Czech National Bank in the year 2017, with a nominal value of CZK 200 in quality standard.

The Association of Czech Graphic Artists was founded in Prague in 1917 - just 100 years ago - and its aim was to build on old traditions, to support the development of modern Czech art and to achieve the technical excellence of graphic work. These artistic virtues are symbolized by the association  until today. It presents the best of our graphics and brings together dozens of professionals - graphic designers, printers and theorists. Their activity is not limited by anything - nor the generations or visual opinions. The only decisive criterion for Hollar is and always was the quality of the work.

The winner of the CNB Art Competition was the medalist MgA. Martin Dašek. The reverse side is dominated by the HOLLAR logo, the obverse by the Czech lion. Both sides of the coin are then stylized in the form of a printing press from which the printed sheets of paper appear - the texts indicate: HOLLAR - ASSOCIATION OF CZECH ART GRAPHICS - 1917 - 2017 / CZECH REPUBLIC - 200 CZK.

Each individual coin issued by the Czech National Bank was minted by the Czech Mint in Jablonec nad Nisou.
