Product description

This year, a hundred years has passed since a fundamental step was made to ensure that after a long period of repression, began the history of the independent state of Czechs and Slovaks. Originating in Paris on February 1916 was the representative body of foreign resistance - The Czechoslovak National Council. This event was also highlighted by the Czech National Bank through the 500 CZK coin from a pure silver. Prepare a place of honor in your numismatic collections!

The Czechoslovak National Council, under the chairmanship of Tomas Garrigue Masaryk, since its inception involved in the management and organization of military units abroad, called legions. Created in 1917 by decree of the French Government, advocated by the Council was an independent Czech-Slovak army in France, commanded by The Czechoslovak National Council. A successful operating of the Czechoslovak legions in Russia, but also in French and Italian fronts gave to the council prestige in negotiations with the allies. Their work and ideas were published in the journal La Nation Tchèque (Czech nation) and the Czechoslovak independence. It had resided on Rue Bonaparte 18, which today is the Czech Centre and the Consulate.

The Czech National Bank received 29 proposals for the competition of 18 artists. The Commission, together with a professional advisor, Doc. PhDr. Pavla Vošahlíková Prof. Dr., from the Historical Institute of the Academy of Sciences, eventually opted for the realization of an interesting model of  MgA. Josef Šafařík, Ph.D. He has filled the sterling area on both sides with a composition comprising state symbols, brilliantly portraying the inevitable disintegration of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the creation of independent Czechoslovakia. The averse also bears an inscriptions CZECH REPUBLIC and 500 CZK. An area of the coin is dominated with a battalion with an emotional motto FREE IS THE NATION, WHICH IS NOT SUBORDINATE TO THE POWER OF ANOTHER NATION. The reverse side then bears an inscription CZECHOSLOVAK NATIONAL COUNCIL and the years 1916-2016.
