Product description

The five-part collector´s miniseries called Czech Tennis Legends has been closed. The Czech Mint dedicated the last silver coin to Petra Kvitová, who ranks among the world top tennis players.

Petra Kvitová was born on March 8, 1990 in Silesian town Bílovec. She began to play tennis when she was four years old. She was trained by her father and played for TC Fulnek till she was sixteen. She won the Pardubice junior title in singles and doubles and joined the tennis club in Prostějov that is represented by her even today. She joined ITF international tournaments in 2006 and debuted in a WTA tournament the following year. She has seven ITF titles, twenty-two WTA titles, a WTA Tour Finals, an Elite Trophy, a bronze medal from the Olympic Games in Rio, and two grandslam titles – she won Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014. She is a member of the Fed Cup winning team that has won this trophy five times, and together with Tomas Berdych she won the mixed-team tournament of the Hopman Cup in Perth. But her tennis career has not finished yet. She is expected to achieve further success, however the two Wimbledon titles will certainly be decisive for the International Tennis Hall of Fame ...

The academic sculptor Jiří Dostál became the author of the relief of the tennis coin this time. He dedicated the reverse side to the bust of Petra Kvitová, who triumphantly holds the Wimbledon trophy - the Venus Rosewater bowl surrounded by the English text "CZECH TENNIS LEGEND PETRA KVITOVA", together with the list of her greatest sport triumphs. The Czech Mint's sport coins are licensed by a foreign issuer, which is the state of Samoa. Their obverse side therefore bears its necessary attributes, which are the national emblem, the portrait and the name of the emperor Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (WST), together with the year of the issue 2018. The composition was closed by the inscription "WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONS".

Each coin is complemented by a special Czech-English certificate of authenticity that summarizes the sporting career of Petra Kvitová according to Wimbledon winner Jan Kodeš. You can store a set of five Czech tennis legends´ coins in a wooden collector´s box which you can also find in the offer of the Czech Mint.
