Silver coin European green lizard proof
The collector's series of colored silver coins named Endangered Nature represents plants and animals on the endangered species list. The second animal issue of the year 2017 is devoted to the green lizard.
The green lizard will never be forgotten because it is the largest of four species of lizards living in the territory of the Czech Republic. It grows over 40 centimeters in length, while half of its body is formed by the tail. As its name suggests, it has a striking green color. It is a predator and its food consists mainly of insects. Due to its size, it also dares to eat other reptiles, birds or rodents. It likes light and warmth so therefore the Czech Republic forms the very northern boundary of its occurrence. Unfavorable weather is one of the factors that led to its critical threat level. Another risk is the change of suitable biotopes, on which the lizard is very prone to.
The reverse side of the coin was made by the expert medal maker MgA. Martin Dašek and carries two different views of the reptile. The first is embossed and shows a lizard in its natural environment - climbing on a dry branch. The second then presents the lizard in vivid colors that have been achieved by stamp print technology. The inscription bears the name of the animal species in Czech and Latin: GREEN LIZARD - LACERTA VIRIDIS VIRIDIS. The island of Niue provides the Czech Mint with the license to mint its own coins, and therefore the obverse side - in addition to the plastic representation of the wild natural scenery made by academic female sculptor Majka Wichner - carries the attributes of this issuer: the profile and the name of Queen Elizabeth II., the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD) and the year of issue 2017.
Each coin is presented in a delightful package featuring the life of lizards detailing. You can store it in the collector's box, which can also be found on offer at the Czech Mint.
