Product description

On the list of endangered species is in the red lettering registered a number of animals that have relatively recently belonged in nature to the commonly occurring species. But man with his self-centeredness brought many of them to the edge of extinction, or erased them from Earth entirely. For example, because of rebuilding roofs and attics, or wrongly closed entrances to the old mines and caves, have lost their habitat a magnificent mammals - Greater mouse-eared bats. A call for greater consideration for flora and fauna, with whom we share the planet equally, is the popular series from the Czech Mint - Endangered Nature, with a newly ranked silver colored Smart coin 1 NZD Greater mouse-eared bat in top quality proof.

Greater mouse-eared bat was originally a cave kind. However, in our geographical conditions, the females colonize the attics of a large buildings and we can often meet them in attics of castles and churches. In each of these colony it is possible to count hundreds to thousands of pieces! In winter the bats migrate to their wintering areas, mostly in the ice-free underground - the caves, tunnels, basements, etc. Greater mouse-eared bat feeds on mainly large beetles and butterflies, which he collects directly from the ground and locates them by using ultrasound. He copulates twice a year and after a 60-70 days of gestation the female gives birth to usually one young, which is capable of independent life at the age of two months.

In the Czech Republic the eared bat occurs in practically the entire territory, then more abundantly at low and medium altitudes, but the only underground summer colony is located in the Hranice Abyss. You can now admire the beauty of this creature also thanks to the masterful depiction on the reverse of the thematic Smart coin from the Czech Mint, whose author is the academic sculpturesess Majka Wichnerová. The colored bat in a flight is completed with an inscription indicating the genus and species name in Czech and Latin: NETOPÝR VELKÝ – MYOTIS MYOTIS. The obverse side is a work of art of another skilled artist - MgA. Martina Dašek and represents a collage composed of the attributes of issuer and brilliantly processed forest nooks.

An excellent medalist work and a strong message to your Smart coin collection clearly belongs, book one of 1000 limited issues!
