Product description

The Czech Mint has been releasing four colored silver coins once in a year since 2013 to commemorate the irretrievably disappearing representatives of the plant and animal realms that we can meet in the Czech Republic. These four coins are the last in 2018, and the Endangered Nature series is saying goodbye to its twenty-fourth mintage, which is dominated by bog-star.

Bog-star is the only representative of its kind growing in the Czech Republic. While the Latin family name of the charming herb "Parnassia" refers to the Greek mountain range, which was the seat of the muses, the Czech family name "bog-star" is based on Old Slavonic expression for pain relief. It was nicknamed "heart" and used to treat heart disease in the past. The white crowns of bog-star are distinguished by their distinctive veins, which make the flower look like a perfectly symmetrical artwork. The interesting thing is that the flower smells with honey in the sunny weather and it is odorless in the evening or in the rainy weather. Bo-star loves damp and cold and we rarely find it in a few scattered mountain and mountain regions in the Czech Republic. The decline of its population resulted from the drainage of agricultural land.

The reverse side of the coin, which is traditionally the work of the medal maker MgA. Martin Dasek, presents a flower of herbs in vivid colors, which is achieved by tampon printing technology. The reverse composition is complemented by a glass closet and an inscription of the Czech and Latin names: BOG-STAR - PARNASSIA PALUSTRIS L. The obverse side, decorated with herbal motifs, carries the necessary attributes of Niue Island, an issuer that provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license for issuing its own coins. These attributes consist of the name and the profile of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2018 and the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD).

Each coin from the Endangered Nature cycle is stored in a spectacular illustrated packaging. Remember that you can store the complete collection in practical collector´s boxes, which you can also find in the offer of the Czech Mint.
