The Czech Mint dedicated another silver coin from the Solar System cycle to the planet Jupiter.

Jupiter, named after the ruler of the Roman gods, is the largest and most massive planet in the solar system and its first gas giant. Unlike terrestrial planets such as Earth and Mars, gaseous giants are not formed by rocks and do not have a solid surface. Jupiter consists mainly of hydrogen and has a high cold atmosphere. Although it has a system of thin rings, they are not as prominent as another gaseous planet, Saturn. Jupiter amazes with a number of fascinating moons. It has eighty of them and includes, for example, Europa, Io, Callisto and Ganymede, which consists of rocks and ice and is larger than the planet Mercury. Jupiter's magnetic field is extremely strong. On its surface there is a "Great Red Spot" - a giant hurricane that has been raging for 300 years and which would engulf three Earths…

The medal makers Asamat Baltaev, DiS., and Jiří Hanuš, DiS. dedicated the reverse side of the coin to the depiction of Jupiter in vivid colors thanks to pad printing technology. The embossed relief then shows the Sun surrounded by the orbits of other planets in the solar system. The composition is closed by the inscription JUPITER. Photographs or computer graphics were not used as a template for coloring, however, the authors created original watercolor paintings. The coin surface of the mintages is characterized by a special treatment - a combination of proofing, sandblasting and laser treatment of the stamping dies has achieved a new effect, which we have called "moon dust". The obverse side of the coin is dedicated to the depiction of the entire solar system and presents astronomical symbols of individual planets. In the center of the system you will find the necessary elements of the issuer of the coin, which means a portrait of Elizabeth II, together with the Queen's name, the year of issue 2020 and the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD). This is the Pacific island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to mint its own commemorative coins.
