Universal Goddess

Famous goddesses appear on commemorative coins after five ancient gods from all over the world. Aphrodite is the first to be issued in pure silver.

Even mortals or the gods could not resist
the ancient Greek goddess of love, fertility and beauty. Zeus' reckless and capricious daughter, born of sea foam, encouraged humanity to enjoy life, but although she became the patron saint of lovers, she did not live to see happiness in love. She was married to the lame god of fire Hephaestus, who loved her, but the superficial Aphrodite did not return his feelings. Unable to deal with his ugly appearance, she experienced countless love affairs - with the stout god of war Area, the mighty god of the sea Poseidon, or the charismatic messenger of the gods Hermes. She had children with all of them. We still use their names today - Eros, Harmony or Hermaphrodite. As one of the twelve Olympans, Aphrodite appears in a number of immortal stories - for example, about the apple of discord and Prince Parid, who called her the most beautiful of the goddesses, and unknowingly started the Trojan War…

The reverse side of the coin, processed by the medal maker
Petra Brodská, DiS., presents a fragile goddess with a rose in her hand. Her beauty is underlined by various ornaments - headdress, earrings, necklace, traditional chiton clothing - and there is also a scallop shell. All this is surrounded by characteristic Hellenic ornaments, which can also be found on the obverse side of the coin. These are supplemented with motifs of Nordic, Slavic, Indian and Egyptian origin - the obverse side is common to the whole cycle of divine coins. As the coins of the Czech Mint are licensed by a foreign issuer, the island of Niue, the obverse side also bears its necessary attributes - a nominal value of 10 DOLLARS (NZD), the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. and the year of issue 2021.

The great goddesses of the world are immortalized on large coins - each weighing
five troy ounces.
