Back to the times of honest, hand-animated stories, presents you with a one ounce commemorative silver coin, issued on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the premiere of Alice in Wonderland.
By 1951 Walt Disney had already created twelve animated feature films. A fantastic book by the English writer and mathematician Lewis Carroll, became the draft for the thirteenth feature film. It tells a story of the adventures of a girl named Alice in a strange fairytale world, where she went through a rabbit hole. The narration is full of absurd situations and bizarre characters. One of them is a mad Hatter stuck in time, which, together with the March Hare and the sleepy Dormouse, organizes the never ending tea party. Through it all he gives Alice a riddles, that do not have an answer, and recites nonsensical poetry.

The reverse side of the coin is dedicated to the main heroine of the story and her freakish host.
The scene of pouring a tea is completed with an English inscriptions ALICE in WONDERLAND and 65th Anniversary, together with a typical logo of Disney. The obverse side belongs to the attributes of the issuer, which is the Pacific island of Niue: the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II., a nominal value of TWO DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2016. The authors of the appearance of the coin are the members of the design team New Zealand Mint.
