Product description

Each person has his own dreams. A really great person has big dreams that may include immense human values, such as - truth, goodnneess and love. The desire that our former president, dissident writer and playwright Václav Havel wanted to fulfill was exactly the same - to save the St. Anne`s Church – called the Prague Crossroads. He wanted this place to serve for multicultural meetings, meditation and artistic perceptions across genres and forms. The Czech Mint also decided to support this noble intent in collaboration with the Foundation of Dagmar and Václav Havel VIZE 97 and the leading Czech artists. That is why an outstanding series of medals Art for Václav Havel was prepared. Proceeds from the sale of each mintage will be dedicated to the restoration of the Prague Crossroads. Another artist who made contribution to the good deed with his desing of the commemorative issue was Kurt Gebauer.

Kurt Gebauer - author of many paintings, drawings, TýTý prizes, floating objects and sculptures designed primarily to public space. Among Gebauer´s works the dwarfs carry his distinctive mark – dwarfs of gigantic proportions typically situated in grass give us the impression that they form part of the place. Through the sculptures with names Pozorovák, Monument, Dog, Hat or Marksman Kurt Gebauer allows passers-byto realize their own human dimensions in the face of products of the artist's imagination. One of the dwarfs "patrols" on the wall of  Václav Havel`s house, former Gebauerova neighbour. He defended his dwarfs as an innocent joke, but they became a symbol of the loss of human freedom and individuality.

Distinctive "dwarf" motif  could not miss the new sterling silver medal Kurt Gebauer - Love and irony in top proof quality, where it appears on the reverse along with the motto NO TREE GROWS TO THE SKY. The artist dedicated the obverse to the tasteful composition of hearts and the part of the famous Václav Havel`s quote: AND LOVE WILL WIN ... Numbered issue has only 200 pieces - contribute to the realization of a beautiful Václav Havel´s vision and acquire a special addition to yourits numismatic collection at the same time.
