When the Czech Mint founded a collectible series of Lookout towers, in an order to present the most significant observation towers of our country, they could not miss in its plan Lednický minaret, probably the most beautiful lookout tower of South Moravian Region. For our country an atypical architectural gem annually attracts crowds of tourists and newly also pleases the numismatics through an original silver medal.

Lednický minaret boasts a height of nearly 62 meters and a several primacies. This is in a fact the oldest preserved lookout tower, the only minaret in our country as well as the tallest building of its kind existing outside the Islamic countries. The tower is situated at an altitude of 175 meters above sea level. On the highest of the three galleries is leading respectable 302 steps, its climbing is worth it - in a good weather you can see besides the neighboring Pavlov Hills, White Carpathian Mountains, Chřiby mountains and Pohansko or Brno, even the top of the tower of a Cathedral of St. Stephen in the Austrian capital.

The one-storey rectangular base with arcades conceals eight halls with an oriental Moorish decor. The minaret foundations were laid in 1797 by the decision of Alois Joseph I. of Liechtenstein, designed by the court architect Josef Hardmuth, famous among other things, for the invention of the pencil. The swampy subsoil required a special measures - a complex and expensive ones. The construction then costed the Liechtenstein a millions guilders. It was finished in 1802.

The new medal of a pure silver in a top quality proof will attract with a masterful execution, whose author is an excellent medalist, academic sculptor Zbyněk Fojtů. On the obverse in the middle of the area shines overall view of the minaret surrounded by an oriental arabesques. The text says LEDNICKÝ MINARET and 175 m n. m. The reverse provided a space for the motive of the staircase of the lookout tower and an inscriptions leading to the places that can be seen from the tower - PÁLAVA, BRNO, CHŘIBY MOUNTAINS, WHITE CARPATHIAN MOUNATINS, POHANSKO, CATHEDRAL OF ST. STEPHAN IN VIENNA - and information 302 STEPS. A beautiful piece of artistically processed silver will delight your collectible soul and complete your valuable collection!
