Product description

The cycle of silver commemorative medals called the lookout tower of the Czech Mint devoted to the most beautiful and interesting observation towers of the Czech Republic represents its twelfth and last addition. It is dominated by ther wallachian Vartovna.

The modern lookout tower, opened in 2009, is the work of the architect Ivan Bergmann from Zlín. The unusual construction of a spiral, inside which is the left-handed staircase leading to the top, consists of 270 cubic meters of reinforced concrete, 11 tons of concrete reinforcement and 51.5 tons of iron. The building is situated at an altitude of 651 meters and the height of the tower is 37 meters, while the viewing platform is covered with a roof at a height of 35 meters. It is interesting that the lookout tower has its sister building which dominates the Slovak Tlsta mountain both of which have been created within the cross-border project and are connected by fifty kilometers of nature trails.

An expert medal maker and architect Mgr. Jan Hásek dedicated the obverse side of the medal to the overall view of the slender lookout tower. The reverse side of the medal then presents a detailed perspective view of the complicated design of the metal tube.

The Czech Mint has prepared for the collectors a wooden collector's etui where a complete twelve-part cycle of silver medals can be stored.
