When the work of real genius and a noble idea go together, amazing actions would be the result. Proof of that is the unique collection of commemorative medals prepared by the the Czech Mint in collaboration with the Nadace Dagmar a Václava Havlových VIZE 97for art lovers.
Seven prominent Czech authors join their hearts in order to satisfy the wish of the first Czech president Václav Havel. To rescue the St.Anne`s Church – Prague Crossroad (kostel sv. Anny - Pražská křižovatka). Seven extraordinary medals were created and andproceeds from the sale will be dedicated to the reconstruction of that architectural jewel. Bořek Šípek, Jiří David, Kurt Gebauer, Aleš Lamr, David Černý, Jaroslav Róna a Olbram Zoubek will contribute with their sources of inspiration. All of them dedicated to Václa Havel their exceptional pieces of work, which are now parts of the attractive medal series.
Olbram Zoubek gave the beautiful sculpture to Václavu Havlovi. The president wanted the „golden-haired girl“ and the artist who highly appreciated that singular man did not hestitate and gave him that really impressive piece of work from 1986– the sculpture of Iphigenia, doughter of Agamemnona king of Mycenae and his wife Clytemnestra. That woman was a source of inspiration for many writers, composers and artists, her soulfulness and brathtaking realization make OlbramZoubek`s sculpture one of her most beautiful interpretaion.
Silver medal Olbram Zoubek – Iphigenia in proof quality is numbered issue with limited mintage 600 pieces, first 200 are numbered. It is packed in exclusive wooden etui. Simple motifs, but stronger in meaning of both sides will engage our attention at first sight. The obverse side is dominated by the silver sculpture of Iphhenia with gold-plated hair and the author`s signature, the reverse side reflects magical symbolism of the heart on the palm of the hand and bilingual text: PRAŽSKÁ KŘIŽOVATKA / PRAGUE CROSSROADS. The artistic design of the medal is Olbram Zoubek`s work, sculptor, graduate of an Academy of Art (ak. soch.), Zbyněk Fojtů transformed it into the form of medal. Collaboration of the two artists made possible the realization of this numismatic jewel, which beyond doubt will be a gem among your artistic collections.
