Star Wars Classic: Obi-Wan Kenobi™ 1/4 oz Gold Coin
Another gold coin of the space cycle of Star Wars represents Obi-Wan Kenobi, the legendary Jedi Knight, whose heroic actions affected the fate of one faraway galaxy.
Already as a Padawan of Master Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan was a rational and pragmatic knight, perhaps a little too confident. His confidence, however, was accompanied by a respective capabilities, and so the young fighter quickly climbed up in the hierarchy of his order. He became not only the master, but also a valued member of the Supreme Council of the Jedi. Although initially he had doubts on the wishes of the dying mentor, he adopted a boy named Anakin Skywalker as his apprentice, and their relationship soon grew into a fraternal one. The Clone Wars have drove a wedge in between them, which led Anakin to the dark side, and the two friends eventually stood against each other. Obi-Wan was forced to destroy his brother and as a broken man then chose a new goal in his life - to protect the little Luke Skywalker. Thanks to the fate the master clashed again with his student - many years later, aboard the Death Star, where he selflessly gave his life. His spirit, however, survived and merged with the Force in order to help fulfill Luke's destiny.
The reverse side of this commemorative coin carries Obi-Wan Kenobi in the knight robe with a drawn lightsaber during his final duel with Darth Vader. The issuer of the coin is the island of Niue, and its obverse side therefore contains its attributes: the name and profile of Queen Elizabeth II., the year of issue of the coin 2016 and the nominal value of 25 DOLLARS (NZD). The artistic form of the licensed coin was processed by the artistic team of the New Zealand Mint.
This gold coin is stored in a wooden box with a sophisticated mechanism for its exposure.
