1/2 ounce gold medal Petr Vok of Rožmberk proof

The medal commemorates a prominent character of the Czech renaissance – Peter Wok of Rosenberg – a nobleman who took a great interest in science, literature, art and culture. He was a significant patron and sponsor of the Czech art. When he died in 1611, one of the most significant Czech noble families – the Rosenbergs (Vítkovci) died off.
The obverse side features the portrait of Peter Wok at young age. His personal seal is placed in the low relief, as well as the legend in circumscription reading PETR VOK Z ROŽMBERKA and years 1611–2011 marking the 400th anniversary of death of the last male member of the Rosenberg family.
Peter Wok’s most favoured castle was Bechyně – he had the castle rebuilt and spend here most of his life – it is depicted on the reverse side of the medal. On the right side of the reverse there is the Rosenberg coat-of-arms and text in circumscription ZÁMEK BECHYNĚ, as well as the mintmark and the sign of fineness of the gold.

Limited edition of 400 pcs, numbered.
