200-crown silver coin Kepler's laws proof

The 200-crown piece is minted from an alloy containing 900 parts silver and 100 parts copper in proof-quality. The field of the coin is highly polished and the relief is matte, the edge is plain with the inscription „ČESKÁ NÁRODNÍ BANKA * Ag 0.900 * 13g *”.

The obverse side of the coin features a scheme of the Mars orbit drawn in Johann Kepler´s book “Astronomia Nova”. The name of the state in Czech “ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA” is inscribed around the left, top and right rim of the coin. The bottom part shows the denomination and the abbreviated unit of Czech currency “200 Kč”. Between the name of the state and the face value of the coin is the mintmark of the Czech Mint and next to it the logo of the Europa project, to which the coin is dedicated.

The reverse side of the coin depicts an effigy of Johann Kepler against a background of an illustration of the law of areas. On the right is the legend in Czech “KEPLEROVY ZÁKONY POHYBU PLANET“. The bottom left side shows the anniversary dates “1609 – 2009”, where the digits “09” partly overlay the portrait. On the left, next to Johann Kepler’s effigy, is the reversed letter “D”, the initial of the coin’s designer, Vojtěch Dostál.

Each coin comes complete with a postcard-sized catalogue card made of light-blue semi-carton. It features the coin in silver colour, its relief being dry-stamped. The coin description is in Czech and English. The card is identical for both standard and proof coins.

Limited edition of 20,700 pieces.
