What led you to work on coins and medals?

First, I studied at the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts in Jablonec nad Nisou, from where I continued to the Higher Vocational School.

Do you remember your first project for the Czech Mint?

One of my first realizations for the Czech Mint was the Majestic Ducat of the Czech Republic in 2018. In the following years, I had the opportunity to work on its variations.

Can you count how many designs for coins and medals were created by your hands?

I never counted it exactly. So far, it's about 60 designs, but how many are realized, I have no idea.

Which order from the Czech Mint pleased you the most? Which one is your favourite?

I was most excited about the coin with the motif of the Egyptian goddess Bastet.

What subject matter is closest to your heart?

I like variety best, so I don't prefer any particular theme to stick to. The only thing I don't really seek out are portraits.

How do you find inspiration for your work?

First, I think about the topic and look for background information if the topic demands it. After that, I create first drafts, which I then edit as time passes.

Do you have a secret dream – something you want to achieve that you consider a highlight in your career as a medal maker?

I don't have any dream or set goal, but one day I would like to be a full-time medal maker. I think that making a living by doing what you love and enjoy is a win in itself.
