Golden Advisor or the historical performance of investment gold
Golden Advisor or the historical performance of investment gold
Gold has been a constant in the portfolio of experienced investors for many years, and people keep coming back to it. The historical development of the price of the precious metal shows that the value of gold is constantly increasing over time. On the stock exchange, the price of this commodity is most often expressed in dollars, in the volume of one troy ounce (31 grams).
Gold has confirmed its long-term performance even during the last century. Back in the early 1970s, a troy ounce cost "only" 35 dollars (about 800 crowns in today's money). But since those times, the most famous precious metal has multiplied its price more than fifty times.
Ten years later, gold was already trading for $600 (over 13,000 crowns). Decades of stagnation followed, when the precious metal oscillated stably around the value of $400 per troy ounce (nine thousand crowns).
At the turn of the millennium, however, the price of gold began to rise significantly again. The precious metal reached a new high a few months before the global economic crisis broke out in 2008. But while stocks and other assets fell, gold proved its resilience against external economic and political influences, which usually, on the contrary, lead to an increase in demand for this commodity.
This is also why the precious metal enjoyed a literal golden era after the collapse of the American mortgage bank Lehman Brothers. The value of gold continued to grow until 2012. At that time, a troy ounce was already trading for more than 1,700 dollars (approx. 38,000 crowns).

After the era of growth came a short period of decline for gold. But the precious metal reached its maximum again within a few years. At the dawn of the coronavirus pandemic, the price of the precious metal began to rise significantly. Gold set its current all-time high in 2022 above the value of two thousand dollars (45 thousand crowns).
Below this limit, the precious metal oscillates to this day. The historical development of the asset's price shows that gold has always been able to recover from short-term dips and its value has been increasing over time for centuries. In the next part of the investment guide, we will look at investment coins.
