Brass rectangular token marking the 18th anniversary of Czech Mint
Czech Mint was founded on 1 July 1993 after the split of Czechoslovakia into two independent states. Since its establishment, it has been the exclusive supplier of circulation coins (Czech crowns) and commemorative coins for the Czech National Bank. In addition to this it has developed its own production of medals, coin replicas, tokens and pendants.
This year, Czech Mint has also begun to strike medals from other than round blanks. The first one is a rectangular brass token marking the 18th anniversary of Czech Mint.
A stylized coat-of-arms of the city of Jablonec nad Nisou is featured in the upper part of the obverse side of the token: a shield showing a grass hill with an apple tree with fruit. A spring rises from the roots of the apple tree and flows down to the right side. A mural coronet with five battlements rests at the upper rim of the shield. In the lower part, the motif is complemented with Czech Mint’s mark: :“ČM“ with a crown.
The entire field of the reverse side is reserved for the inscription Česká mincovna and dates 1993-2011 marking the year of founding and 18th anniversary of the plant.
