Product description

Czech art is highly esteemed in the world. Czech Mint has expressed it through the Ducat series, which pays tribute to the four impressive art works, that we consider our national treasures: a poetic song  Máj by Karel Hynek Macha, the opera Rusalka by Antonin Dvorak, a sculptural group of Záboj and Slavoj by Josef Vaclav Myslbek and a picture Trutnov from the cycle of Homeland by Mikolas Ales. Four important cultural monuments, four stunning medals representing proof of the famous Czech skill and also an exceptional investment opportunity. The artistically processed gold in the form of wonderful set in a limited edition of 100 pieces certainly will not wait long for its appreciation!

The author of the four mintages is Jaroslav Bejvl, who dedicated his life to the creation of two directions of art - artistic lamps and medals. From his workshop came 400 plaster models, most of which were realized and awarded by the Czech National Bank. Bejvl`s sense of composition and remarkable perception of space have now created another extraordinary medal jewels:

One-ducat CR 2016 Karel Hynek Mácha - Máj
The obverse carries a very impressive picture of sorrowful highwayman and parricide Vilém thinking about the pitiful fate in the bosom of the picturesque May nature, also expressed by a snippet from the book MY LONG JOURNEY, MY FUTILE CALLING. The inscriptions tell the author's name and the title of the work and mintage) - K. H. MÁCHA, MÁJ and DUCAT OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC.

Two-ducat CR 2016 Antonín Dvořák - Rusalka
Soulful scene of a desperate water nymph lamenting to the moon about her fate and an unhappy love dominates the obverse of another unique medal along with a part of musical notation Rusalka's famous aria. The texts on the obverse then says A. DVORAK, RUSALKA and the TWO-DUCAT OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC.

Five-ducat CR 2016 Josef Václav Myslbek - Záboj and Slavoj
Brave fighters Záboj and Slavoj, figures from the Czech rumors in sculptural elaboration of Josef Václav Myslbek, masterfully redesigned Jaroslav Bejvl, on top of the Five-ducat with texts J. V. MYSLBEK, ZÁBOJ A SLAVOJ and THE FIVE-DUCAT OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC.

Ten-ducat CR 2016 Mikoláš Aleš - Homeland cycle - Trutnov
The eighth lunette of cycle, The Homeland by Mikoláš Aleš, which adorn the foyer of the National Theatre, is called Trutnov. As a successful plastic it can be found also on the obverse of the last of the sets of ducats along with the texts M. ALEŠ, HOMELAND  – TRUTNOV and TEN-DUCAT OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC. The reverse of  the four medals is common and consists of a thematic cross-section of all four parts - a collage of harp, pallets, sculpting tools and books. If you do not want to rob your collection an extraordinary specimen, book the Ducat set of Czech art and become the owner of a rare collector's set in time!
