Product description

The new five-year cycle of gold coins with a nominal value of CZK 5,000 in quality proof of the Czech National Bank welcomes its second issue. It belongs to the King of Czech castles - Bezděz.

Bezděz castle was founded by King Přemysl Otakar II. as the administrative center of his new estate, which was the result of an active colonization of the country. The precisely built Early Gothic edifice is next to the "King of Iron and Gold" also inherently associated with the person of his son Václav II., who was imprisoned here with his mother Kunhuta. Among other building owners we include such greats as Karel IV., who stayed here several times, or Albrecht von Wallenstein.

The author of this artistic mintage design is young medalist Asamat Baltaev, DiS., for which, next to the National Jubilee Exhibition, this is the second realization of Czech commemorative coins in 2016.

The expert committee of the Czech National Bank for assessing proposals for Czech currency appreciated its quality and realistic rendition of the castle on the reverse and humorous incorporation of the heraldic animals into the interior of the castle chapel windows on the obverse of the coin.

A series of gold commemorative coins will introducte a total of 10 most beautiful Czech castles.

You can store them in an elegant collector's box with a stylish depiction of Bezděz, which you can find in the menu of the Czech Mint.
