Old Picture Postcards

Another issue from the free cycle of gold mini coins was set in replicas of historical postcards and dedicated to Lednice Castle that belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Postcard work dedicated to the
historical South Moravian region is very rich and represents the pride of every collection. A decorative lithographic postcard that served as a proposal for coin packaging, was published by Alois Weidlich (formerly Franz Hübl) in 1900. The print depicts important buildings and monuments of the Lednice-Valtice area that combines natural beauty and remarkable cultural monuments. The majestic Lednice Castle (Schloss Eisgrub) is surrounded by large parks, gardens, ponds and a number of salets which are smaller buildings in the surroundings. These architectural pearls blend countless traditional and exotic styles of Central and Eastern Europe - visitors can admire, for example, the Greek Apollotempel, the Roman Triumphal Arch of Diana's Temple (Rendez-vous), the Classical Border Chateau (Grenzschloss - Bischofswarth) or Neo-Gothic St.Hubert Chapel (Hubertus-Kapelle).

The reverse side of the commemorative coin was processed by the medal maker
Ludmila Kracíková, DiS. It presents the neo-Gothic St. James Church as a part of the Lednice Castle that served as the chateau chapel to the Liechtenstein family. The obverse side of the coin bears the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2020 and the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD), which means the necessary attributes of the island of Niue that provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to mint its own commemorative coins.

The original issue is an affordable collector's piece that will delight numismatics, philocartists and lovers of South Moravia.
