The Bouquet

The sixth gold ducat from the seven-part cycle inspired by the Karel Jaromír Erben's Bouquet is dedicated to a poem called The Golden Spinning Wheel.

At first glance, the ballad
The Golden Spinning Wheel looks like a classic fairy tale - not unlike the one about Cinderella. There is a simple girl with whom the king falls in love, and an envious family that wants to usurp her happiness for itself... National revivalists, however, saw in the verses a similarity with the Czech struggle against oppression. While they thought that Dora represents our nation, her stepmother and half-sister personify the Habsburg monarchy. Nothing will stop the cruel women - not even murder to prevent Dora's marriage to the king, who symbolises Czech sovereignty. Fortunately, there is a righteous old man - or a devoted patriot - whose living water and truthful spinning wheel thwart the evil plans...

The author of the obverse side of the ducat is
Mgr. Petr Horák. The fairytale composition presents a woman spinner at a spinning wheel and a magnificent royal castle. The reverse side, which is the work of MgA. Jan Hásko and which is common to the whole series, then bears a rich puget, which, alongside various flowers, hides a human skull.

The ducat is set in a special packaging which includes
a complete poem. The collection of seven ducats can then be stored in a collector's box.
