Famous artists

Giacomo Casanova appears on the gold coin of the Czech Mint from the free cycle commemorating important personalities of world history.

Giacomo Casanova had hundreds of interests - he worked as a writer, spy, diplomat, businessman, schemer, soldier, gambler, violinist, adventurer and sorcerer. He studied law, medicine and divinity. He learned Latin, Greek, economics, mathematics, history and philosophy. He was originally Italian, but his home was all of Europe - he became a secret agent for the Portuguese, a financial advisor at the French court, and he came up with the project of a national lottery in England. Although most of the ventures he threw himself headlong into ended in failure, he always managed to find a wealthy patron. Once he was on top, the next time he was on the bottom. He's been a guest in royal courts and a prisoner in filthy cells... But one thing he's always done well. Seduction, coquetry, flirtation, intrigue, sex and dalliances were his daily bread. As a lover of women, he was tireless and predatory, but his methods were subtle and sophisticated. He was not handsome, but he was intelligent, charming, witty and elegant. Many noble ladies and chaste nunssuccumbed his compliments. As soon as he conquered one woman, he immediately embarked on another love affair... Casanova's life was turbulent, but he lived it in boredom as a librarian in the castle of Duchcov in Bohemia. He escaped from the dull reality into dreams and memories, which he transformed into an incredible autobiography.

The author of the commemorative coin is the medal maker
MgA. Petra Čánská. The faithful portrait of the seducer, inspired by contemporary painting, is supplemented with the inscription GIACOMO CASANOVA on the reverse side of the coin. The obverse side of the coin presents a collage consisting of a quill, Casanova's signature and the facade of the Duchcov castle. As this is a coin issued with a foreign licence from the island of Niue, the obverse side still bears the necessary attributes of that issuer - the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 25 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2022.

The coin, which is issued in a limited edition of
200 pieces, is supplemented with a pictorial certificate of authenticity that commemorates Casanova's escapades.
