Femme Fatale

The seventh femme fatale commemorated by the gold coin from the Czech Mint's free cycle is the ancient Egyptian Queen Nefertiti.

The heir to the throne,
Amenhotep, could not have chosen his bride-to-be, but even though his parents had destined her for him, he could not have been happier. He was to join his life with the famous Nefertiti, whose eloquent name meant "Beauty Comes". The goddess with unusually delicate features and fair skin so charmed the young man that he made her co-ruler of Egypt after his coronation. Pharaohs had many wives and even more concubines, but it was not common for any of them to become queen. The ambitious Nefertiti, however, assumed more and more of the ruler's powers. She was even depicted on the walls of temples in the same size as her husband, who established the cult of the only sun god, Aten, and adopted the name Akhenaten. If surviving engravings are to be believed, the queen engaged in activities normally reserved for men - driving off enemy troops and presiding over ceremonies. At the height of the Egyptian empire, Nefertiti was quite possibly the most powerful woman in the world. But even after three millennia, she is remembered above all as an enchanting beauty...

The reverse side of the commemorative coin from the studio of medal maker
Vojtěch Dostál, DiS., is dominated by a portrait of beautiful Nefertiti, inspired by the world-famous ancient bust. The obverse side of the coin then belongs to the face value of 50 DOLLARS (NZD), the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and the year of issue 2022 - i.e. the attributes of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign licence to issue its own commemorative coins.

The one troy ounce gold coin is issued in a mintage of just
200 pieces.
