Happy Birthday - Celebration
Choosing the right birthday gift is not easy. Therefore the Czech Mint has prepared universal, original and valuable present in the form of a silver commemorative medal.
The ancient Romans commemorated the anniversary of their birth with glamorous celebrations full of good food and drink. However, historical religions looked differently on birthdays. While Judaism did not put emphasis on them, Christianity and Islam considered birthday celebrations as a sin. Hinduism considered the death as more important. The name days played the dominant role in the Middle Ages, and the anniversary of the birth was reserved for the nobility. Fortunately, times are changing and thinking and ways are gradually evolving. Today's birthday resembles closely the Roman one. It can not miss tasty food with a cake, an alcoholic toast, and of course everyone is looking forward to a variety of presents.
A cheerful birthday party became the motif of the gift mintage from the studio of the medal maker MgA. Tereza Eisner. Both sides of the medal bear stylized figures - one drinks to health and the other blows candles on the cake. Birthday people are surrounded by confetti together with an inscription WISHING YOU HAPPY BIRTHDAY. The relief was embossed in an unusual quality reverse proof that emphasizes the decorative design.
The birthday mintage was issued in two variants. You can find it in the offer of the Czech Mint if you are looking for a more traditional motif.
